What Campers Learn

  • Campers explore the varied habitats that Beech Creek has to offer and enjoy collecting (when appropriate), and observing and taking photos of the many things we see and find.

  • Our camp fosters teamwork, respect for one another and the environment.

  • Earth systems science (how everything works as a system) is at the core of our learning adventures.

A typical day at camp goes something like this...

  • Welcome, introductions, news and important stuff, prep to head out on the adventure

  • Adventure time (see topics listed by dates)

  • Lunch

  • Outdoor games

  • Art, craft  or construction (build something) activity

  • Snack time

  • Free time at Nature Playce

  • Head for home

Note: If a camp date is full, we can add your name to a waiting list for that date if you wish.

Camp Registration Protocol

  1. To ensure there is still space available for the camp dates you are considering, call us at (330) 829-7050 before mailing in your mail. Please do not rely solely on mailing your form to reserve a space. By the time we receive your form in the mail, the camp date you requested could be full. If the camp date you prefer has filled, you can choose to be added to the wait list for that specific camp day.

  2. If space is available in the camp date you would like, we will collect some basic information from you, so that we can hold a space for your child. We need to know the child's name, age, which camp dates, parent's name, and parent contact information.

  3. Then download the camp registration form. If you are signing up multiple children, you must fill out a separate form for each child. Download the form for the Nature Explorers Day Camp here & download the form for the Summer Adventure Camp here.

  4. Complete the form, then either mail it to us (send to 11929 Beech St NE, Alliance, OH 44601), scan/email it to us (send to, or drop off the form in-person at our Visitor Center.

  5. To submit payment, you can send a check in the mail along with your registration form, pay over the phone using a credit card, or pay in-person at our Visitor Center.

  6. Once we receive your form, we will email you a confirmation with a "How to Prepare for Camp" tips list.

2020 Nature Explorers Day Camp Topics

  • Feb 20 - Winter Out We Go!: We will explore the winter woods, play in the snow (hopefully), build some critter feeders, hand-feed the birds, and make s'mores around the campfire. Oh yes, and time at the Nature Playce playground!

  • Mar 24 - Geology Day: Geodes, minerals and pebble collecting are some of the fun things we will do to explore the rocky realm of Beech Creek.

  • March 25 - Ice, Ice, Ice: We will investigate some of the unique features of ice using ice balls and slabs. If the weather permits, we will make ice sculptures and float them down the creek (provided it's not frozen).

  • March 26 - Kites!: March is the windy month, so let's fly kites! We will build our own kites then head to the top of the hill to fly them. We will enjoy a variety of other "wind" activities too.
